  • Statement on the Current Political Situation in Germany

Vivat Lingua! is a language institute. We have colleagues, partners, and clients from many countries and cultures around the world. Vivat Lingua! is colorful and diverse, and that's what defines us.
What we do wouldn't be possible without this diversity. We welcome people coming to Germany, enriching our lives and culture. This is the foundation of our work, and we are grateful for it. We believe that a good society is based on the principles of our democracy. This means respecting human rights and the dignity of every individual. These values influence everything we do. They are the solid foundations of our actions and thoughts in a free society.
That's why we appreciate people across Germany taking to the streets and protesting against far-right opinions. It gives us courage! There is no place for right-wing ideas here – not at Vivat Lingua!, not in Germany, not in this world!
In German, we say "Kante zeigen" for this – taking a clear stand. This is how we show ours.

  • Introducing the New Company Management

I'm Kendra Kalkschmid, and I've been serving as the managing director for Vivat Lingua! since January 1, 2024. With a background in law and as a German language teacher, I've chosen to continue my professional journey with Vivat Lingua! alongside Niels Stock. I've had a longstanding collaboration with Vivat Lingua! as a trainer in the German as a Foreign Language (DaF) field, and I'm thrilled to build on that experience.

The current political landscape presents both challenges to overcome and innovative opportunities. I'm enthusiastic about contributing creatively in this realm, with the hope of initiating and supporting positive societal developments.

Vivat Lingua! and I are always open to new ideas, inquiries, and collaborations. I look forward to connecting with you and exploring new projects together!

  • Change in the Management at Vivat Lingua!

Adelheid Kumpf hands over her role in the management of Vivat Lingua! to Kendra Kalkschmid.

After 20 years of duo-leadership with Niels Stock, Adelheid Kumpf is stepping down from the position due to illness.

As of January 1, 2024, Kendra Kalkschmid will assume half of the management responsibilities. Kendra Kalkschmid, a full jurist, played a significant role in shaping many language training programs, particularly in German as a foreign language. A few years ago she was the expert in legal language at Vivat Lingua!.

"Our former colleague was unanimously and independently our preferred candidate," say the two managers. Both the core development team of Vivat Lingua! and the entire team warmly welcomed this change during a hybrid team meeting in November 2023.

Adelheid Kumpf bids farewell with these words: "20 years with Vivat Lingua! ... definitely my most beautiful journey! Many thanks to all who accompanied me on this journey."

  • Vivat Lingua! is celebrating its 20th anniversary!

We want to thank you for building bridges between cultures with us. Our Jubilee celebration on July 17th was filled with our friends, family, learners and partners. We're happy to have been able to meet again after a long time and we will certainly remember it. You can check out the video of our stage programme in German here.

We're grateful for our community that has continued to grow over the course of these 20 years. Some of our learners even came all the way to Tübingen from their home country to celebrate with us. Those who couldn't come even recorded video messages for us! You can watch them on our social media channels

Would you like to congratulate us too? Amina, our social media coordinator, will be happy to organise a video with you!

  • Support refugees by gifting German training

There's war again. We are thinking a lot about how to best help people in need. In 2015 and 2016 some people contacted us and said, "I would like to support a refugee with a German course." We thought it was a very nice idea back then and thus could support refugee learners.

Therefore, we have decided to continue to facilitate sponsorships.
Since March 2022, we have again been able to arrange 28 German training sponsorships.

Contact us if you would like to support refugees with a German course. We will gladly arrange contacts — or support a refugee anonymously.
